Refund Policy

Myeongbun is a digital self-understanding service grounded in Saju (Korean birth-chart analysis). This page sets out the refund policy for personalized reading reports.


Free Preview & Right of Withdrawal

Myeongbun offers a free preview before payment.

  • What's free: Sections 1–5 of the 12-section report — the Foundation chapter — are freely available before checkout.
  • Why we offer it: The preview operationalizes the seller-side display and trial-product obligation under Article 17(6) (main and proviso) of the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, which directs sellers of digital content to take measures — such as a conspicuous statement of withdrawal restrictions on the product packaging or in a place easily noticeable to consumers, or the provision of a trial product — that prevent consumers' withdrawal rights from being obstructed. The preview exists so that you can assess the service's voice and value before committing — it is not a teaser to push you into a purchase.
  • What happens after payment (Korean Article 17(2)(5)): Sections 6–12 are unlocked immediately, and supply of the digital content is commenced. The 12-section report is a single integrated digital content (not a "divisible digital content" under the proviso of Article 17(2)(5)), so all of Sections 6–12 are supplied at once at the moment of payment, correspondingly limiting user-initiated withdrawal.
  • For EU residents (Directive 2011/83/EU Article 16(m)): Proceeding to payment captures (i) your express consent to begin supply of the digital content prior to expiration of the 14-day withdrawal period, (ii) your acknowledgment that the right of withdrawal is thereby lost once supply has begun, and (iii) durable confirmation of this consent and acknowledgment by email together with the purchase receipt.
  • Right of Withdrawal — preserved for advertising mismatch (Article 17(3)): If the report materially differs from its advertised description or fails to meet the contracted terms, you may exercise your right of withdrawal within 3 months from the date of supply, or within 30 days of becoming aware of the discrepancy.

Digital Content Refund Principle

The 12-section report is a single integrated digital content (not a "divisible digital content" under the proviso of Korean Article 17(2)(5)), and supply is commenced at the moment of payment. Once supply has commenced, the user-initiated right of withdrawal is correspondingly limited; refund eligibility instead follows the case-specific frameworks below — LemonSqueezy 60-day discretion (global customers), the EU/UK 14-day statutory window (where applicable), and Toss Payments-routed system-error/duplicate-charge/advertising-mismatch refunds (Korean residents).


LemonSqueezy Global Standard (Customers Outside Korea)

For purchases processed through our authorized reseller Sold through Link, LLC (a Utah, USA limited liability company), which acts as the Merchant of Record outside Korea, the following refund framework applies:

  • Merchant-of-Record refund processing window — 60 days: LemonSqueezy will only consider refund requests within 60 days of the transaction date. The LemonSqueezy Buyer Terms make clear that refunds are at LemonSqueezy's sole discretion and decided on a case-by-case basis, so a request inside the 60-day window may still be declined. After 60 days, LemonSqueezy will not process refunds.
  • EU/EEA, UK statutory withdrawal — 14 days: Buyers resident in these jurisdictions retain a 14-day statutory right of withdrawal under Directive 2011/83/EU and equivalent national law, in addition to (and not in lieu of) the 60-day merchant window.
  • Myeongbun internal refund SLA — 30 days: Independently of the Merchant of Record window, Myeongbun's own customer-care SLA processes report and gift refund requests submitted within 30 days of purchase. This is intentionally narrower than the LemonSqueezy 60-day window — Myeongbun adopts a more conservative posture so that purchases settle quickly and chargeback exposure stays low. Requests outside the 30-day Myeongbun SLA but within the 60-day LemonSqueezy window remain reviewable directly through the Merchant of Record.

These windows are subject to the digital-content carve-out described in Free Preview & Right of Withdrawal above: once supply has begun with the buyer's express consent (Directive 2011/83/EU Article 16(m)) or once supply of the digital content has commenced (Korean Article 17(2)(5)), the statutory withdrawal right is correspondingly limited. The Merchant of Record's published LemonSqueezy Buyer Terms (which include refund provisions) govern global customer transactions and take precedence over the Korean section below for purchases routed through LemonSqueezy.

To request a refund:

  1. Use the buyer support contact provided in your LemonSqueezy receipt email, or
  2. Email support@myeongbun.com — Myeongbun will forward the request to LemonSqueezy where applicable.

After approval, refunds may take up to 10 business days to appear on your card or bank statement (per the LemonSqueezy official guide).


Korean Residents (Toss Payments)

For purchases processed by Toss Payments (Korean Won), the refund terms below apply, in line with Article 17(2)(5) of the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.

Reports are intangible digital content for which supply commences the moment they are downloaded or viewed. Because the service offers a free preview before payment (see "Free Preview & Right of Withdrawal" above), purchases proceed only after users have had the opportunity to assess the service's voice and value, which limits user-initiated refunds once supply has commenced. Refunds are issued in the following cases:

  • The report could not be delivered due to a system error.
  • Duplicate charges that occurred without the user's responsibility.
  • The report materially differs from its advertised description or fails to meet the contracted terms (right of withdrawal under Article 17(3) of the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce — within 3 months from the date of supply, or within 30 days of becoming aware of the discrepancy).

To request a refund: My Page → Payment History, or contact support@myeongbun.com. Approved Toss refunds are processed to the original payment method within 3 business days (in compliance with Article 18 of the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce).


Gift Refunds (All Customers)

For gift purchases, refunds are available while the recipient has not yet redeemed the report (PENDING status):

  • If the recipient does not redeem within 30 days, the gift is automatically refunded in full.
  • The sender may request a manual refund within 30 days from the payment date.
  • Refund status is visible in your payment receipt email and My Page → Payment History.

Disputes and Inquiries

If you wish to dispute a refund decision, the following channels are available:

  1. Email (all customers): support@myeongbun.com — Myeongbun responds within 7 business days.
  2. LemonSqueezy Buyer Protection (global customers): Where Sold through Link, LLC acts as the authorized reseller and Merchant of Record, dispute resolution is also available through the buyer support contact provided in the LemonSqueezy receipt email and on the LemonSqueezy Buyer Terms page. The Company supports the dispute by providing transaction context to LemonSqueezy on request.
  3. Pre-chargeback contact requirement (global payments): Before raising a chargeback with your card issuer or bank, please contact LemonSqueezy buyer support or Myeongbun directly through channels 1 and 2 above. Under the LemonSqueezy Buyer Terms, LemonSqueezy reserves the right to charge $100 USD in liquidated damages or block further purchases when a legitimate charge is disputed without merit or legitimate reason. The Buyer Terms separately direct buyers to contact LemonSqueezy prior to raising a chargeback.
